Zillarino: I love Wawa, but this is bad news! The strip of Landis Ave. where this future Wawa will be has become way too overpopulated with stores and shopping centers with a gym in the middle of it all. Using the old Save a Lot would have made more sense. Yes it's bigger than the usual Wawa, but it really needs to be for ample parking as well. Although there is one right down the street at Park and Delsea (another location with a lot of accidents), it wouldn't matter. You could have a Wawa every quarter mile and it would be crowded. It appears to be a money first, lives last type of deal. Vineland: control the traffic issue before permitting businesses to open at dangerous intersections. Perhaps this intersection would not be so dangerous if there were a longer delay between the one side turning red and the other side turning green. Last I knew just a couple years ago, the timing was less than one second. There is no regular crackdown on the people with highway mentality getting off 55 and gunning it through that red light. It is the same situation at Landis and Orchard, the next light down. Bad crashes!!! Or someone ripping out their front end so bad their car needs towing. Taxes have been steadily increasing and there are several more businesses than there were five years ago. Residents expect more! Post signs..signal ahead, reduced speed ahead, etc. Believe it or not those signs help even if they only save one life. I do not recalling seeing any of those. Pedestrians walking and biking are getting pegged down more frequently every year in Vineland. There are several Vineland residents who do not own cars. They depend on walking or biking to buy groceries. Worse yet, residents in center city in that situation, have had all of their grocery stores taken away from within center city limits, with the exception of odds and ends that can be found at neighborhood stores (limited selection). Yet, there is a liquor store within a guaranteed radius of every 3 blocks within center city. Unfortunately, Vineland had a drunk driving incident about a month back that resulted in a fatal accident with an innocent young man riding a bike. That is just one example of how lives are controlled and disregarded in center city. All the good is taken, the bad is imposed, pushing pedestrians into dangerous intersections to get food and other necessities. The crime has increased as people watch good things being taken from them. Sadly, some become a product of their environment because of the bad that has been allowed (by the city) to be implanted. Then they get hauled off to jail. It all starts with having a lack of resources and opportunities available to suit our residents' needs. The issues I have touched may seem unrelated to the reader (if you made it this far), but they are all relative to one another. Life here is like a big domino effect. There is not enough thought, care, or resolution being brought to the table. I have a ton of solutions in mind. Somebody please tell me who I can speak to that will listen and act upon relevant solutions that are readily available. What position must I fill out for to be heard? 3 years ago > REPLY
