Accident on Hwy 98
Good morning, I witnessed an accident today (Mon,July 24th, 2023) around 0616. (6:16 am) There was a white pickup truck with construction equipment in the back, a broken/cracked left taillight, and the truck was dirty. The driver was very obviously drunk. We pulled up at the Portside Drive, Gulf Breeze Parkway Entrance that leads to the Great Clips. I was on Gulf Breeze Parkway in the 2nd to far left lane. Two cars ahead of me was this pickup truck. The car in front of me honked at him for a while and then signaled to go around. We both did. The guy who appeared to be white with very dark shaggy blonde-ish hair was leaning in his arm and was clearly passed out. We continued driving knowing we were about to stop at Circle K and hoping to see a cop there. At the next light located at the Toll bridge, Walmart intersection this happened again. He had stopped and passed out. We drove by hoping nothing would happen. As we began to approach the light that intersects at Gren Bria Parkway and Country club Road, we stopped due to the fact that the right-hand turn lane is closed for construction. Planning to go get some sodas from Circle K, anxiously we looked behind us and instantly heard tons of honking and cars swerved out of their lanes and then parallel to me on my left this driver hit a White SUV directly in front of him. Almost hitting us if he hadn't of your the other person first. He did not press his brakes at all just full on hit the guy in the SUV. The Guy in the SUV seemed to be a Hispanic man. Also dirty car. This SUV was a Chevrolet. Upon this accident, the drunk guy immediately began to hit himself and attack himself. Visibly causing himself pain as he smashed his leg. He was very angry and then hit the steering wheel. The light turned green, surprising, the white truck pulled over to the side as well as the White Chevrolet SUV. > reply
